Day 4: Kualoa Ranch and Sailing Away

Today was the day we would board the Pride of America and begin our seven days at sea but first there was more to see on O'ahu.

First stop was the Nu'uanu Pali Lookout which is 1,000ft above the O'ahu coastline and offers fantastic views of the Windward coast. Next we headed out to the Kualoa Ranch, a 4,000 acre ranch with yet more stunning views of the mountains and ocean. We listened to a presentation on Hawaiian culture and history before boarding the bus again. We headed to an 800 yr old fish pond where we were ferried over to a private island on the other side. Here we ate a picnic lunch in the most idyllic setting. Really felt like we were in an episode of 'Lost'. In fact some episodes were filmed there and also some other shows and movies. We were then taken on a catamaran ride out into the ocean so we could enjoy the view of the beach and mountains from a different aspect. Giant turtles even put on a show for us as they swam close to the boat.

From there we journeyed to the port and boarded the ship for our week of island hopping. First stop was the bar to have a cocktail and then we wandered the ship to learn where the most important places were, the restaurants and bars!!

Not long until we set sail now so I will post this before I lose the wifi! So looking forward to exploring the other islands. For now, aloha Honolulu.
